In conjunction with launching production activity, the company ADP – Smolyan is announcing a contest for an industrial product. The theme is free to choose – the products may be either an accessory to the home or the office or furniture products for kids and adults.

1.Task:

To design a product for mass production, manufactured with a CNC machines for woodworking. The product may be (but not limited up to):
-an accessory for the home or the office;
-furniture – for the home, office, kids room;
-souvenir;

Product’s requirements:

-Market oriented product;
-Low cost;
-Functional;
-Innovative;
-Stylish.
Main materials – plywood, MDF, solid wood. The usage of other materials for fasteners and structural elements is possible.

The design of the product should be new and original – created for this contest only and not to have been showed anywhere else before.

2.Technical details:

-Product materials: solid wood, plywood, MDF. Fasteners and structural elements from other materials are allowed.
-Maximum details dimensions which can be processed: width: 900 mm/length: 900 mm/ thickness 100 mm.
-Production technology: all operations will be made on a CNC machine.

-Market oriented product;
-Cost;

-Innovation;
-Style;

As the product is targeted for mass production, we’re looking for a solution which will be marketable, optimised for production and transport and attractive as a product. It will be considered as and advantage if the product has minimum volume during transportation (flat pack).

4.Terms and conditions for participants:

The contest is open to everyone.

- Registration:

Each participant in the contest must register at CHERGA’s website:
http://contest.cherga.org and send his/her project no later than 12/10/2011.

If you already have a registration – from the previous contest – you may use the same nickname and password.

-The idea

-The product’s design should be a new one – It must not have been shown before the contest at other places/ participated in other contests.

-Participation materials

Each contest participant must present:
• A visualisation of the idea in JPEG or PDF in resolution no less than 600 x 800 pixels in a file not bigger than 1 MB.
• Clear description of the idea and a drawing in a DWG.

5.Prize

1.The nominated products will be implemented into production after signing a commission contract with the designer.
2.The designer of the winning product will be sponsored to participate in Workshop Rabotilnica’ 2012.
3.Other prizes – representatives of Bulgarian manufacturers will present individual prizes.

The contest winner will be announced on the 26th Oct 2011 on the contest’s website and officially at the opening ceremony of “The world of furniture” exhibition – 26th – 29th October 2011.

The public’s favourite will be determined with a survey during the exhibition and will be announced on the 29th October 2011.
